newspaper shoot

A few months back, at the beginning of the school year, my school news paper asked me to be in a fashion shoot. The concept was different looks every girl can use, i.e.; date night, casual weekend look, school, etc. So for this feature i pulled/styled the looks and modeled them. Oh! and i almost forgot! All of the different looks had to incorporate the same little black dress from forever21, that retailed for about $22.

Look 1: Girl's Night Out:
I love this one. the flower/feathered hair piece in a vivacious red, with an equally stunning lip, the side swept, curly hair-pulled into a loose chignon. loved the patterned yellow clutch. And the heals from H&M are probably THE most comfortable heels on the planet. Seriously obsessed with them i cannot even explain. And the patent material always seems to make them look new.
2: This next look was date night. Again with the red lip (NARS-heat wave), curly, sexy hair. H&M Blazer, J.Crew double strand necklace, sequin baguette, and black patent oxford heels.

3: Shopping look! Keeping it simple with fresh make-up, loose pulled-back hair, over-sized bag to haul your life with you, and a cropped faux fur vest. Finished the look off with uber-comfy flat brown ankle boots from Urban. I wear them to death.
4: To be completely honest, i don't even remember what this look is off the top of my head. I'd have to dig out the newspaper and look. One of my favorites, though. Yellow boho bag, long dark grey hooded cargo jacket, ridiculously awesome lace tights, and knee-high grey suede flat boots.
5: 'Meet the Parents' look:
Banana Republic statement pearl necklace, black tights, and silver ballet flats.
6: Weekend/casual look. Jean Jacket and all-American keds. Red lips add a little something extra to the laid-back look

7: School outfit! Looking scholarly with a tan button-up underneath dress, with a Blair Waldorf-approved rosette and black ribbon headband via J.Crew, and green leather driving mocs also courtesy of J.Crew
Nothing horribly inspired, but overall i think they were good looks to show to a high school audience.

Johnny Depp: Most Stylish Man in the World

I saw this during a quick stop at the store today and just had pick it up. I'm currently obsessing over Johnny Depp's acting AND his...PERFECT style. I cant think of any better way to describe it. He's like the male Kate Moss. In the magazine, Barney's Creative Director Simon Doonan describes the mystifying look that is the "Icon of Eccentric cool" ;
"Johnny Depp's a unicorn-a really glamorous, one-of-a-kind eccentric. Usually guys try to fit in; they don't want to get criticized. At any red-carpet event, there are going to be guys who look spiffy in their Prada or Armani tuxedos, but you wait for Johnny Depp, because he's always going to look super groovy and unconventional. He wears great man jewelry. He doesn't shy away from color. He's always peeking through his amazing hair. It doesn't matter if Johnny Depp's lying in the ditch-he's always going to look incredible."

The image above is a screen still from a behind-the-scenes feature on the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest special edition 2-disc DVD. For some reason my A.P. Lit teacher had this special feature on the TV in class the other day, and as soon as Johnny came on the screen in an interview portion, i gasped. How freaking cool does he look?! i turned to my friend and said "I want to look like that! I would wear ALL of that!" He is just so unbelievably cool, and UNIQUE. That's whats really special..
and please pardon the poor image. It's a still off of YouTube and their video quality isn't always the best. But i just HAD to capture his outfit somehow. It's my absolute favorite look of his. Maybe its partly because I'm also coincidentally in an army-inspired/print phase..but all i know is GQ is right, he is the most stylish man in the world.

ACTUAL pictures. taken by myself. mind. blown.

Yes, i AM actually adding pictures that were taken by me, of my things. Now, they arn't outfit posts (YET), but we will get there, people! Baby steps. Heck, its finals week.....
eff.
SO! moving right along here. this is a small potrtion of my room. granted my room is in itself a small portion, you get the idea. this would be the top of my dresser. I quite enjoy it. There's the empty bottle of my all-time favorite perfume, moschino i love love. *sigh* The light pink fan was free! thank you, kind-perfume-lady-with-flower-bomb-samples.
And the clutch is one of my major wardrobe loves. I will pass this on to my child. Found at a boutique in B-ville. I found it at the peak of my vintage-esque/carrie bradshaw-esque clutch/small baguette phase (which is still going strong).
Ahh, my desk... how i love thee. The wicked awesome skull is from UO. The bustier purse is OLD. I remember when they were all over the stores way back in the what, early 2000's? I know I have a picture somewhere of it being the centerpiece at my birthday party-which im sure sounds strange to anyone whose NOT me, but it was freakin' cool. Actually-come to think of me- my cat gave it to me. DON'T GET ME STARTED ON MY CATS. They just HAPPEN to get us gifts whenever its someone's birthday. Thoughtful, no? I am not obssessed. End of story. Anyways, where was i? Cats!? Oh yes, so i pulled this little gem off my tippy-top shelf to put it on display. It deserves it. I imagined it would be some quirky bag carrie bradshaw would carry, so OBVSZ that makes it 157356018654 times cooler, right?
close up of the corner, i guess. Oh look, there's my unfinished fine art final! Hooray!

Tea cup and saucer via Anthropologie and the coolest card you will ever see. You open it up to yet another epic-ly awesome picture of the joker and he says, "Let's put a smile on that face!"
That movie was a masterpiece. The joker=my hero.
MY CHAIR!! ohh chair, how pretty and whimsical you are. Reminds me of a chair from Alice in Wonderland (favorite movie). When i have a house i will have this chair and other quirky chairs around a long, dark mahogany wood table. and it will look like Alice in Wonderland with mis-matched quirky china, like the cup and saucer above.

Thrifted shooooeesss!!! found about a week ago. BRAND. SPANKIN'. NEW! Just lying there. Helpless. In my size. Beckoning to me, calling out, YEARNING FOR A HOME! Who am i to deny a blue-suede slipper-esque shoe(with embroidered stars) a proper home??! And at just SIX AMERICAN DOLLARS, i proudly adopted them.
Mannequin (dress form, technically, i guess) that holds my statement necklaces and scarves,
and apparently my old press pass from being on the newspaper
Aaaaaaaaand FIN.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

My current film obsession. I'm not quite sure how i could effectively sum up this film. It's just so.. achingly beautiful, i constantly find my mind mulling over the psychological nature of this masterpiece. Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey are pitch-perfect in their roles as Clementine and Sam. They are inexplicably drawn to each other, despite their radically different personalities, and the quirky hair colors and style of Kate's character is such a refreshing portrayal of a heroine in a love story. I give this beautifully crafted film my highest recommendation.
